The process relating to issuance of registration certificates for applications made for trademarks has been fully automated, the commerce and industry ministry said today.
The move is aimed at further streamlining the process of trademarks registrations in the country.
Accordingly, it said from August 1, the registration certificates will be generated through an automated system in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Trade Marks Act and Rules.

"The process relating to generation and issuance of registration certificates for applications made for registration of trademarks has been fully automated," it said.
The ministry is taking several steps to reduce the pendency time for trademarks registrations in the country.
It has already hired 100 extra examiners for trademarks and examination to reduce the time. The ministry has set a target to bring down this time to one month by March 2017 from eight months.
The total number of patent applications and trademark registration requests pending as on February 1, 2016 are 2,37,029 and 5,44,171 respectively.
