Terming the ban on film Sadda Haq as "unjustified", two Punjabi film producers today said it was an effort to check the creativity of film makers.

When the Censor Board, a central body of Government of India, granted the approval to the film the state government had no right to ban it, Paramjit Singh Kalkat and Jarnail Singh, both partners in Kalkat Production House, said in a statement issued here.

"The nod of Censor Board proves that Sadda Haq fulfils all the norms laid by government and is a clean movie to watch," they said.

The move of SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar to support the movie and write to censor board regarding it is the biggest proof that it does not have anything objectionable, they claimed.

"Banning the movie a day before release has raised doubts over intentions of state government and its wisdom.

"As film makers, we demand immediate removal of ban," they said.
