It is awarded each year to distinguished international scientists actively working at the frontiers of science and technology, according to Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, where Rao serves as Honorary President.
Recipients of these prestigious Einstein Professorships are recognised as international leaders in their respective fields, as measured by awards and prizes, invited lectures, national or international committee membership and/or leadership and history of publications, JNCASR said.
In this capacity, Rao, National Research Professor, would be delivering a few lectures in leading Chinese institutions later this month, it was stated.
