M S University will soon launch a departmental inquiry against suspended associate Law professor Ghanshyam Solanki for allegedly smearing itching powder on vice chancellor's chair during a national seminar in February.

"A departmental inquiry will soon be launched against Dr Solanki and then a chargesheet will be issued against him," M S University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh said today.

Solanki was suspended after his arrest on February 19 for allegedly smearing the powder on the chair of the Vice Chancellor in a seminar held here on February 16.

The incident had caused major discomfort to the vice chancellor, who after occupying the chair, had to leave midway during the event, apparently due to the effect of the powder.

According to forensic report, Solanki had used a tropical herb mucuna pruries (locally called Kuvech) for the mischief.

Solanki had told police that his target was not the VC, but the Dean of Law faculty S S Bhattacharya, with whom he wanted to settle some personal scores.
