Progress of ongoing, new rly projects discussed

: The progress of ongoing and new railway projects in South Central Railway was discussed here today at a meeting chaired by SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav, state Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and top officials.

The general manager informed the Chief Secretary that a Rs 400 crore station re-development plan was being implemented in the temple town of Tirupati.

He dwelt on the conceptual modernization plan for redevelopment of Tirupati Railway Station and also detailed the plans drawn up for redevelopment of Nellore Railway Station, a press release here said.

Yadav said plans were afoot to complete a 46-km stretch of new railway line between Piduguralla and Rompicharla as part of the new Nadikudi-Srikalahasthi line.

 

The railway and the state government authorities reviewed areas where more coordination was required between the two, the release added.

Earlier in the day, the General Manager visited the Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC) at Vijayawada and inaugurated the newly constructed hostel for trainees.

He inspected the latest locomotive model (WAG 7) at the Centre, which highlights the trouble shooting areas, the first of its kind facility for trainees on Indian Railways.

SCR Vijayawada division manager R Dhananjayulu, Guntakal division manager Vijay Pratap Singh and other senior officials were present.
