Prohibitory orders clamped on roads under Panbazar, Latasil PS

Assembly of more than five persons, procession and shouting of slogans has been prohibited under Section 144 CrPC by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, central police district, Guwahati on the roads under Panbazar and Latasil police station areas.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranjan Bhuyan, by a notification today said "Some specified/unspecified persons or groups of persons and organisations/associations are likely to disturb normal functioning of offices, movement of public and flow of traffic at the Dighalipukhuripar and in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro)".

"It is apprehended that such groups of persons or organisations/associations will carry out agitations demonstrations/shouting of slogans in front of the DC's office, Meghdoot Bhawan and in and around Dighalipukhuripar under Panbazai PS, Central Police District, Guwahati, which may cause breach of peace and public order and may cause disturbance/interruption of peaceful movement of public, traffic and also normal functioning of offices in the above mentioned areas," the notification said.
 

The order was necessary to take preventive measures to ensure peaceful movement of public, traffic and also normal functioning of offices in the above mentioned area, the DCP said.

The prohibitory notification would be effective on M G Road near the DC office, Panbazar, MG Road leading to Raj Bhawan by the side of River Brahmaputra, all roads around Raj Bhawan and Brahmaputra State Guest House, GNB Road near Dighalipukhuri upto TC point Rotary; Taibullah Road near Dighalipukhuri, Ananda Ram Baruah Road near Meghdoot Bhawan, Kanak Lal Baruah Road near Handique College and FC Road near the Gauhati High Court.

The order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in operation till further notification, the DC added.
