Prohibitory orders in Chakradharpur following group clash

Prohibitory order were imposed in Chakradharpur township in West Singhbhum district tonight after two groups belonging to different communities indulged in brick-batting over a petty issue.

"Keeping in view the prevailing tension, we have imposed prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC in the township to maintain law and order," Sub-divisional Officer (Porahat) Nandkishore Gupta said.

The situation is tense but under control. Adequate police and para-military force personnel have been deployed in the town, he said.

The Superintendent of Police, Seraikela-Kharswan district, Inderjeet Mahatha who is also in charge of West Singhbhum reached the spot and is camping there.

The incident occurred when some people returning from picnic retaliated when a group indulged in brick-batting with them, a police official, who refused to be quoted, said.
