Prohibitory orders in Mokokchung

The Mokokchung district administration today imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in Mokokchung town for over a week in view of infighting in the ruling Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF).

An official statement said the the prohibitory orders which came into effect from today and would continue till July 4 was clamped apprehending law and order situation in the town.

The apprehension followed what the administration said "the confrontational situation caused within the of NPF unit, Mokokchung".

NPF sources said the party's Mokokchung unit had been dissolved by the NPF Central Office in Kohima on June 22 for raising question against the decision of the Central office regarding removal of two ministers from the newly installed TR Zeliang led DAN government.
 

Former Health and Family Welfare Minister Imkong L Imchen and Youth Resources and Sports Minister Merentoshi R Jamir were not included in the the council of ministers in the new DAN-III government.

Following the dissolution, two blasts occurred inside the NPF Mokokchung Division office on June 23 midnight, though there was no casualty.

The sources said while the NPF Central Office was contemplating reorganization of the district unit, the removed office bearers of Mokokchung have threatened not to allow it under any circumstance.
