"The dictionary will contain words that are fast dying out because of lack of use," Project Officer at the Central Institute of Hindi, Professor Abhishek Avantas, said.

Work on the Awadhi-Hindi-English dictionary was started last year, he said.

This is the first time since 1921, when it was surveyed by the Grierson's Linquistic Survey of India, that the dialect is being considered in such detail.

The dialect, which was used by Hindu poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas for his epic Ram Charit Manas, is spoken in parts of eastern UP including Allahabad and capital Lucknow.
