The SAD-BJP government has chalked out projects worth Rs 30,000 crore to ensure all-round development of more than 12,000 villages in Punjab, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.
Under these projects concretisation of streets, sewerage, road infrastructure, clean drinking water and other facilities would be provided for facelift of rural areas, he said after laying the foundation stone of a railway overbridge here.
The railway overbridge here will be built at a cost of Rs 60 crore completed in a year, while the one in Kotkapura will be constructed at an expenditure of Rs 117 crore and be ready in one-and-a-half year.
"The developmental projects would bear fruit in the next five years and Punjab would achieve the distinction of being the first state in the country to effect holistic development of the entire rural areas," Badal said.
He said free medicine shops would be operationalised in the next three months for the poor people and 33 such shops would be opened in Faridkot.
During the nine year tenure of the SAD-BJP government, Punjab has seen record development in building roads, power generation, administrative services, infrastructural facilities, implementation of Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna for the poor, farmers and small traders, Badal claimed.
Hitting out at AAP, he said the party is "totally unaware" of the glorious culture of Punjab and its main aim is to "grab power".
