Congress today said that prolonged firing along the borders is not in the interest of India and Pakistan.

"It is unfortunate that Pakistan has again started heavy firing along the border and compelled India to retaliate which is not in the interest of any of the countries," vice president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) and former Minister, Mula Ram, said today.

"It will be wise if diplomatic dialogue process is started without any further loss of time," he said at public meetings in shelling-hit Batera and Manyal Brahmna area of Jammu district.

The Congress leader also expressed concern over "delay" in providing compensation to the farmers for the loss of their crops in the recent rains and devastating floods and demanded that the process should be completed expeditiously.
