A 41-year-old businessman was arrested for allegedly mowing down a man with his Audi car in central Delhi's Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, the police said today.

Rajeev Malhotra, a property dealer, was detained yesterday from Sunlight Colony and was arrested last night, they said.

He was nabbed on the basis of a clue that police found from the spot.

Police said that a portion of the car's bumper broke and fell on the spot. The vehicle was traced with the help of a unique number on the bumper.

He told police that he had consumed alcohol with a friend before the incident in which a juice vendor Manoj died, they claimed.

Locals alleged that the police arrived late at the spot. Manoj was stuck on the iron grill of the divider for a long time.
