A 40-year-old property dealer has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at his friend's house in south Delhi's Mehrauli.

According to the police, body of Madan Arora was found from the terrace of his friend's house in Mehrauli last night.

A bullet injury was found on the body but no weapon was recovered from the spot, they said.

"There was bullet wound in Arora's head. We questioned his friend Anil and he claimed that they were consuming alcohol when suddenly Arora collapsed on the floor while firecrackers were being exploded outside to celebrate Dussehra.

"Anil initially thought that Arora had shot himself dead but neither he nor we could find any pistol at the crime spot," a police officer said.

The incident was reported by Anil, following which a team of Mehrauli police station led by SHO Raman Lamba reached the spot and found Arora's body lying on the terrace in a pool of blood.

Police is yet to ascertain whether the property dealer was shot dead on the spot or was hit by a stray bullet during Dussehra celebration.

The incident happened on the terrace of a building where Anil lives with his family, they said.

Cops have lodged a case of murder under the IPC and the Arms Act against unknown persons at Mehrauli police station.

Arora's family, however, alleged that they suspect a foul play behind the death and accused Anil and some of his friends for killing the dealer and misleading the police by giving false statements.

The police added that they are investigating the incident from all angles.
