A local property dealer was today arrested for allegedly murdering a former student activist of Aligarh Muslim University.
The body of Asma Javed (30) was found at her flat in Shamshad Market area here on May 13. Asma's parents approached police after they were unable to contact her since May 8.
Asma, who was married but had separated from her husband, belonged to Balrampur.

Javed ul Hasan, who is said to be a friend of Asma's, was produced before a magistrate this afternoon and has been charged under Section 302 (Murder) of the IPC, police said.
Hasan, who was trapped through electronic surveillance, broke down and confessed to his crime when confronted by evidence suggesting that he was the last person to have met her on May 8 evening when she returned from Hathras where she is taking a teachers' training course, a police official said.
"Javed became jealous when he came to know that she was friendly with another youth. In a fit of rage, he strangulated her and sped away after locking the flat from outside," he said.
DIG (Aligarh) Govind Agarwal told mediapersons that the police team which has cracked the case would be rewarded.
