A property dealer was shot at and grievously injured in his Geeta Colony residence in East Delhi, police said today.

According to the police, the assailant has been identified as one Bunty who is known to the victim. He is still at large.

Police said Bunty had come to meet Gurjeet, a property dealer in the area, at his house around midnight on Wednesday. During the meeting, the duo had a heated argument related to financial issues, following which Bunty opened fire at him which hit him in his leg, said a senior police officer.

Bunty is absconding after the incident.

The two knew each other well since long. Preliminary investigations have shown that the weapon used was not licensed. However, it has to be ascertained from the licencing unit, police said.

Gurjeet is admitted at Guru Teg Bahadur hospital and his condition stable.

Bunty has a criminal record and had been arrested earlier on charges of murder. A case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Geeta Colony police station, the officer said.
