A property dealer was today shot dead by three unknown assailants near his residence in Udyog Vihar Phase-1 at Dundahera village here, police said.

The incident occurred early this morning when Randhir Pahlwan, 47, left his house for a walk, they said.

"At least three assailants followed Pahalwan and fired six rounds at him when he was at an isolated place at around 6:30 in the morning," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar said.

"A bullet hit his temple, another his back and the other was shot at leg," the ACP said.

The assailants also fired some rounds in the air before fleeing in the car in which they arrived, he added.

Pahalwan was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police said they have lodged an FIR under section 302 of IPC against unknown assailants and launched probe in the case.

Police suspected it to be a case of property dispute over a piece of land outside of Gurgaon.

However, no loot reported in the incident, police did not deny a rivalry angle to case, the ACP said.

The deceased's brother, Krishan Kumar, said they did not have property dispute with anybody.
