Property dealer shot dead in panchayat meeting

A property dealer was allegedly shot dead in a panchayat meeting over a dispute in Lisaadi station area following which one person was arrested, police said here today.

Master Khalil (45) was shot at by the brother-in-laws of his son, Firoz, during a panchayat meeting last evening which was held to resolve a monetary dispute between the two families, a police spokesperson said.

During the meeting, the two groups started arguing and the brothers-in-law, Sajid, Rashid and Asif, and their friends opened fire on Khalil and fled from the spot, police said.

Khalil was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead, they added.
 

Police said that the victim's family has alleged that the accused were refusing to return the money that they had borrowed from Khalil.

An accused, Sajid, has been arrested, police said, adding, an search is underway to nab the others.
