The TRS government's proposal to build a new Secretariat building complex here would only lead to wasting public money, the main opposition Congress alleged heretoday.
"The existing Secretariat was built just five-10 years ago. It has a life of 100 years. As per my information, new Secretariat and Legislative Assembly building would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,600 crore. Secretariat, assembly and council (buildings) are fine. There is no public interest in this," said Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
He was speaking at an event when the counting of a 'people's ballot' conducted by former Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on the proposal was taken up today.
