Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said the proposed Panchayati Raj Act should facilitate effective functioning by the local bodies.
Rao held a meeting with ministers and officials on the proposed legislation here.
"The proposed Act should make the local bodies act efficiently and the government should have the powers to take action against those who fail in discharging their duties," a release from Rao's office said.

He said the suggestions of officials and others who have understanding and experience in Panchayati Raj institutions be taken before finalising the proposed legislation.
"The CM announced, if possible, the proposed Bill should be introduced in the on-going session and pass the Act," the release said.
