Protect TN interests, Jaya tells AIADMK MPs

Ahead of the Winter Session of the Parliament, which begins this Thursday, AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today called a meeting of party MPs where she asked them to protect the interests of the state.

She advised them on the strategy to be adopted to protect the interests of the state in both Houses of the Parliament, a party release said here.

The meeting was held in the Secretariat and attended by party MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, it said.

Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, leader of AIADMK Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha, P Venugopal, and party floor leader in Rajya Sabha, A Navaneethakrishnan were among the participants.
 

"Jayalalithaa advised the MPs on the line to be taken in Parliament so as to protect the interests of Tamil Nadu," the release said.

AIADMK has a total of 49 MPs -- 37 in Lok Sabha and 12 in Rajya Sabha including the recently elected N Gokulakrishnan from Puducherry.

The Winter Session of the Parliament begins Novemner 26 and will continue till December 23 during which crucial and contentious legislations like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill and Land Bill are likely to remain a highlight.
