Protest after bystander killed in road rage incident in UP

A bystander was killed in a road rage incident after a collision between a motorcycle and a car in Mubarakpur town here, leading to a protest by local residents who blocked the Azamgarh-Mau National Highway for several hours.

An argument erupted between two men after the collision in Katra locality last night. Flying into a rage, one of the men drew his pistol and shot at the other.

However, the bullet hit one of the onlookers, Prakash Sonekar. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Protesting the incident, the local residents blocked the busy Azamgarh-Mau National Highway for many hours.
 

SP Anand Kulkarni said a probe has been ordered into the matter and additional force has been deployed in view of tension in the area.
