All India Youth Federation today staged a novel protest near the district collectorate against corruption allegedly prevailing in taluk and other government offices.
Some 25 activists, holding Rs.500 notes in hand sought immediate intervention of Collector T N Hariharan in the matter and save the poor and general public from corrupt officials.
They claimed that one can get a ration card by paying Rs 10,000 and birth or death or caste certificates are issued against money or there will be inordinate delay in their issue putting people in difficulties.
The protest, the workers said, was to bring the collector's attention to alleged corruption in various offices and put an end to the menace for the benefit of the poor and common man.
