Scores of students and people from the Northeast today staged a protest outside the office of the Bar Council of India, demanding action against some lawyers who had allegedly assaulted one of their colleagues from the region and some activists at Tis Hazari Court last week.
The protesters, who were around 200-250 in number, took out a march from the Hindi Bhavanin Bal Bhavan Complex near ITO around 11 AM and reached the Bar Council of India's office on Rouse Avenue, where they were stopped by police barricades.
The demonstrators, including students from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University, demanded an inquiry into the case and revoking of licence of the accused lawyers.

A female lawyer and two activists were allegedly beaten up by some lawyers at Tis Hazari court on Friday, when they had gone there in connection with a molestation case filed against an advocate by a woman from the Northeast.
The incident took place when the 38-year-old woman from Nagaland, who was allegedly molested on Thursday by the lawyer outside Delhi Vishwavidyalay metro station, came to the court with her advocate and some activists to record her statement.
Police said that they had registered an FIR in this connection and investigations are on.
