The members of Lok Jagruti Manch headed by ZP member Devandand Pawar set copies of a government resolution on fire here to protest the measly Rs 5 lakh aid provided to two drought-affected villages in Wani tehsil of Yavatmal district.

Hundreds of farmers were present at the protest event at the bus station square.

They also protested against minister of state for revenue and district guardian minister Sanjay Rathod.

"Since there are 4.17 lakh farmers in the district, the Rs five lakh assistance declared by the government recently could be distributed to them at Rs 1 each. So we gave a one rupee coin to the assembled farmers as a token of government assistance," said coordinator of the Manch Shailesh Ingole.
