Protest against TV serial 'Jodhaa Akbar', police use force

Several people today staged protest at Jantar Mantar here seeking withdrawal of television serial 'Jodhaa Akbar' for allegedly showing distorted historical facts.

Hundreds of protesters belonging to a particular community were protesting against the TV channel alleging the programme has distorted the history of the country and had depicted their community in a poor light.

The protesters were demanding withdrawal of the serial alleging that the channel and the programme has hurt their sentiments.

At Jantar Mantar, the protesters clashed with the police personnel and some of them suffered minor injuries as the cops resorted to lathicharge and used water cannons on them after they tried to jump the barricades.
 

The protesters said they will continue with their protest till the name of the channel and characters are changed, or the serial is withdrawn.
