Students of the North East Hills University today demonstrated in its Tura campus claiming that no action was taken on a complaint lodged a month ago against a teacher who had allegedly sent lewd messages to a student.
The female student had lodged the complaint on October 3 to the NEHU authorities that a senior professor of the Rural Development and Agricultural Production department sent her lewd messages.
"We have been seeking suspension of the guilty professor. We have proof of his guilt and want to know what step has been taken on the complaint. However, no answer is forthcoming," said NEHU Students Union president Alexander D Sangma said.

The cell is asking for evidence to be given before any action is taken, Singhaih said.
The students, however, said evidence would be given when the woman's cell members come to Tura as the investigation cannot be held from Shillong.
The NEHU has two campuses - one at Shillong and the other at Tura.
Later, the Pro-VC met the agitating students and said the woman's cell members would come to Tura by Tuesday to investigate.
Other organisations such as the Garo Students' Union, the Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and Garo People and the Achik Youth Welfare Organisation also joined the demonstration.
