A group of villagers today staged a protest outside the residence of District police chief here over police's 'inaction' in arresting the culprits involved in a murder case.

The villagers said that Laxman was found murdered on May 15 near a hospital in Vrindaban. Following this, an FIR was lodged in which the accused persons were named.

But police have failed to arrest the accused even after three months. Frustrated over police's inaction, the deceased's father immolated himself on Tuesday, the protesters said.

Later, Deputy SP Chakrapani Tripathi assured the villagers of prompt action in the case.

"District police chief has said that speedy action would be taken against the assailants. They would be nabbed shortly. If found guilty, action would also be taken against erring policemen," Tripathi said.
