Protest held against "Hydrocarbon" project in Pudukottai

Claiming that the Centre has granted permission for a hydrocarbon exploration and extraction project in their village, residents of Neduvasal near here today said they stoutly opposed it.

They said the agriculture and natural resources will be affected if the Centre went ahead with the project.

Meanwhile, a group of students held a protest in front of the Rajah's college here opposing what they called "hydrocarbon" exploration project.

Years ago, ONGC had reportedly sunk a well to explore presence of hydrocarbons in Neduvasal.
