Press Trust of India Amritsar
Members of a society of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims today staged a protest outside of the election office of Congress's Amritsar candidate Amarinder Singh here.

The protesters raised slogans against Congress and Singh for allegedly giving clean chit to riots "accused" party leader Jagdish Tytler.

The protesters, who came from Delhi and Ludhiana district of Punjab, were led by society president Harpal Singh.

They protested against Singh's alleged statement to private news channel that Congress leader Tytler had no role in the 1984 riots. Singh had later denied giving clean chit to Tytler.

Immediately after the protest, former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Parmjit Singh Sarna alleged that the protesters were brought from Delhi and Ludhiana on the pretext of a visit to the Golden Temple.
