Death of a five-year old boy due to mysterious fever, resulted in picketing by relatives and also stone pelting on a private hospital near Veerapandi today, police said.

Ritish was treated for fever in a hospital four days ago and despite taking medicines, the fever could not be brought down, police said.

The boy was again taken to the hospital this morning for check up, and was given medicine, after which he swooned. After some time, the doctors declared the boy dead, police said.

The parents blamed the hospital for giving wrong treatment leading to the boy's death.

Some of the relatives rushed to the spot and resorted to squatting on the road, disrupting vehicular traffic for some time, police said.

In the melee, a person hurled stone at the hospital, breaking the window glass.
