Residents of Habbakadal locality here, today accused the CRPF personnel of "high-handedness" and blocked the main road to press for removal of the main bunker of the paramilitary forces.

Hundreds of people blocked the recently renovated Old Habbakadal bridge for several hours to protest the alleged roughing up of some residents by CRPF personnel during nocturnal raids, officials said.

They also raised slogans demanding removal of the bunker of the paramilitary force from the area.

The protesters also accused the paramilitary personnel of smashing window panes of a number of vehicles including buses, cars and three-wheelers which were parked on the road late last night, they said.

The demonstrators dispersed after police officers assured them that they will take up the matter with the higher authorities and investigate the last night's incident, officials said.
