Protesters held near Kodanadu

A group of persons attempted to stage a picketing in front of nearby Kodanadu estate where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is staying to draw her attention to their grievance, but were detained by police.

A total of 85 persons, including 30 women, were detained at two places, about two km from the estate, as they were proeeding for the protest, police said

They were part of a 150-strong group who had staged a picketing near the estate last week, protesting against denial of an audience with the Chief Minister to submit a memorandum about a job racket allegedly involving a health department official.
 

The workers have alleged that the official had taken money ranging from Rs three to Rs five lakh, promising government jobs but cheated them.
