The members of Jammu and Kashmir temporary teachers association today stopped the vehicle of Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta during their protests against disengagement from their services by the state government.

As the Speaker was leaving after attending a function at Press Club, the protesting teachers gheored his car and stopped it seeking his support.

Amid the protests, the teachers asked the Speaker to intervene and ensure that state government re-engages the teachers under the academic arrangement for the year 2015.

Speaking to them, Gupta said he would talk to the government on the issue.

"They should be considered under the new recruitment policy announced by the state government," he told reporters here.

"I am with them. They should be considered first while fulfilling 15,000 vacancies under the policy", he said.
