Protestors against BTAD violence turn unruly in Nagaon

Supporters of the Non-Bodo Security Samiti which called an Assam bandh today, attacked small businessman in the town while taking out a peace procession against the Bodoland Territorial Areas districts violence in which 34 persons got killed on Thursday last

The supporters of Non-Bodo Security Samiti attacked vegetable, egg and fruitsellers and looted their goods and damaged refrigerators,showcases and other furniture in Haibargaon area of the town,police sources said.

The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them, but the protestors pelted stones at them injuring a policeman, the sources said.

A similar situation took place in Sunaribali area where bandh supporters pelted stones on vehicles injuring passengers.
 

The bandh had partial impact in the district with offices, banks, post offices and other establishments remaining open, while public and private vehicles ran normally.
