A video footage purportedly showing seer of a mutt in an objectionable position with a small time film actress has triggered a controversy and public protests after it went viral in social media.
Protests broke out outside the Maddevanapura Mutt in North Bengaluru since morning as the local news channels started airing the footage of the video of Guru Nanjeshwara Shivacharya Swami alias Dayananda and the actress, whose face was blurred.
The video showed the actress with the godman in a compromising position.

The police rushed to mutt to avoid any law and order problem.
Besides public outrage, some swamis from the Lingayath community, to which Dayananda belonged, flayed him and demanded that he step down.
Rambhapuri Mahaswami and Maate Mahadevi, who are gurus of Lingayath community, asked Dayanda to step down.
They also asked Dayananda's father Shivacharya, who is the chief pontiff of the mutt not to allow him as the succssor and appoint somebody with 'clean image'.
The Deputy Commissioner of police, North East Bengaluru, Girish who reached at the mutt, said action has not been taken against the Dayananda as no complaints were filed against him.
"If we get a complaint, we will initiate action against Dayananda, but neither the victim nor the protesters have come forward", Girish said.
The nearly 500 year-old mutt has 220 acres of land in its custody.
