Protests continued in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions today against the division of Andhra Pradesh.

Union Minister M M Pallam Raju faced protests from opposition parties and united-Andhra supporters during a visit to his native East Godavari district in Coastal Andhra.

The pro-united Andhra employees of Andhra Pradesh government and others organised rallies, sit-ins, road blockades, fasts and other forms of agitations against the Centre's plan to carve out Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh.

Some women protagonists expressed their opposition by donning the attire of Goddess Durga on the occasion of Vijaya Dasami festival.

The employees of various departments have been on indefinite strike since August 13 though others like staff of electricity and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) called off their strike last week although "temporarily".

The Union Cabinet had endorsed separate Telangana on October 3.
