Two days after flash floods caused loss to the agriculture inCanacona taluka, Congress party has demanded that the Goa government should pay hundred per cent compensation to the people affected by the natural calamity.
Several areas of Canacona taluka went under water on October 14 night when the water level of river Talpona which passes through the region suddenly rose inundating the agriculture lands.
Goa Congress chief Shantaram Naik who visited the flood affected areas today said the people affected with the floods should be given hundred per cent compensation by the state government through Disaster Management Authority by amalgamating different funds.

Naik said since such incidents are isolated ones for the State of Goa, the government should also provide funds from its own coffers in addition to the funds from Disaster Management Authority.
The Congress leader appreciated the agriculture department which is making best efforts to calculate the exact amount of damage caused to the agriculture crop.
