A BJP legislator today said there is a need to frame a policy to provide financial assistance to the gram panchyats in Haryana whose land have been acquired for government projects so that development works in such villages are not hampered.
Apart from the financial assistance, such villages should also get of the benefit of the projects in the form of employment, Harvinder Kalyan, MLA from Gharaunda, said.
Kalyan, who is the Chairman of HAFED- the apex cooperative federation of Haryana, said that in view of the "difficulties" being faced in the process of acquisition of land, the land of the gram panchayats concerned needed to be taken for maximum projects of the state government.

"The income received from the land of gram panchayat is spent on the development of the village and people also get employment, the State Government should frame a policy so as to ensure that the villages whose land is acquired for development projects are fairly compensated in the form of financial assistance as well as employment," he said.
Kalyan said that recently village Kutail of district Karnal has given 178 acres of land for the setting up of Kalpana Chawla Medical University whereas village Anjanthali of the district has provided 118 acres of land for the setting up of a Horticulture University.
