Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed the state energy department to ensure electricity connection to all villages in the state by October 2016 and all habitations by March 2017.
The direction in this regard was issued by Patnaik while presiding over a meeting on the performance of the energy department.
Patnaik also fixed the target of setting up at least new 500 33/11KV sub-stations by 2019 of which 100 such facilities should be completed by March 2016.

Department officials said of the total 47,677 villages in the state, 43,753 have been electrified while 3,924 remain without power.
Similarly, of the 82,014 habitations in the state, 54,061 get electricity now. The remaining 27,953 habitations would be provided with electricity through the Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana.
While 53.63 lakh families have so far been provided with electricity, the remaining families would be covered under different schemes like Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutkaran Yojana and Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, energy minister Pranab Prakash Das said.
