Mizoram Excise and Narcotics
department's Anti Narcotics Squad today seized 57,180 tablets of pseudo-ephedrine from Chaltlang locality of Aizawl, Peter Zohmingthanga, spokesman for the department said.
Three persons -- Lalchhuanmawia, Vanlalremi, and Lalmuanpuia -- were arrested in this connection.
The three arrested persons were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, he added.
Zohmingthanga told PTI that the tablets, found peeled off from the strips, weighed 5.580 kilos.
Pseudo-ephedrine, a precursor for illicit manufacturing of the dreaded Methamphetamine has been widely smuggled from the country to neighbouring Myanmar through the north eastern states.
