According to a complaint lodged by Surjit Kaur to the district consumer disputes redressal forum, she was being issued inflated bills repeatedly on September 14 last year worth Rs 90,600 that continued to be enhanced under garb of sundry charges upto 1,91,430 on May 11, 2012.
Kaur said that on raising hue and cry, she was asked to deposit an amount of Rs 2,375, Rs 2,090, Rs 1,180 and Rs 1,000 against various inflated bills.
The forum directed PSPCL to withdraw power charges raised towards Kaur and issued an order to deduct an amount of Rs 25,000 from the salary of the assistant executive engineer Pawan Kumar as litigation expenses for the case.
The consumer forum observed that the PSPCL was duty bound to ensure that the meter was not giving inflated readings.
