In a unique protest, as many as 1,500 PSPCL engineers today worked two extra hours to express anger against the power utility's management for not meeting their demands.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited engineers worked till 7 PM instead of their scheduled time of 5 PM, the agitating employees said.

All the engineers wore black badges as part of their agitation programme, they said.

Sanjeev Sood, the general secretary of PSEB engineers's association, said the "lethargic" approach of the management had forced the engineers to resort to this agitation.

He said the engineers were undertaking extra work load due to less staff, but despite this, the management was issuing chargesheets even on minor issues.

The engineers also criticised the management for not undertaking execution of 1,320 MW power plant at Mukerian under the state sector.

They also complained against outsourcing of activities like meter reading, complaint centres and suvidha centres.
