PSU-organised All India Football tourney begins

An All India football tournament, participated by 13 Public Sector Units (PSU), began today in Barka-Sayal sports ground under Central Coal Fields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited.

Organized by Coal India Limited, the tournament will take place from April 12 to 18 on league cum knock-out basis, official sources said

National football for PSU was inaugurated by Gopal Singh, Chairman cum Managing Director, Central Coal Fields Limited.

Altogether 13 PSU companies across India are participating in the tournament which include Airport Authority of India (AAI), Air India (AI), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), J&K Bank, Rastriya Chamecals & Fertilizers Limited (RCFL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, State Bank of Travancore, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and host Coal India Limited (CIL), official sources of CCL said.
 

The tournament will give an opportunity to the young and budding footballers of nearby villages to learn the finer skill of the game by watching the top footballers of PSUs in action, Singh said.

Games and sports are important for success in every walk of life as sports foster friendship and amity, Singh added.
