Appealing to the Prime Minister designate, Narendra Modi to reconsider his invitation to Sri Lankan president, Mahinda Rajapaksa for the swearing in ceremony tomorrow, Puthiya Tamizhakam (PT) today said that those who have Tamil sentiments, particularly from Tamil Nadu, should not participate in the function.

When lakhs of Tamils across the globe were expecting Modi to lead in seeking action against Rajapaksa for his war crimes and human rights violations, the invitation has come as a rude shock and hurt the sentiments of entire Tamil community, PT president, K Krishnasamy told reporters here.

When pointed out about the expected participation of DMDK leader, Vijayakanth, film stars, Rajnikanth and Vijay for the swearing in, Krishnasamy said "he did not want to create any friction. But only wanted all those who have respect to Tamil sentiments to raise their voice and stand united, as far as Rajapaksa was concerned".

Nobody should attempt to hurt the sentiments of Tamils over the issue, he said.
