A 35-year old man was today caught red handed and beaten by the public when he locked a woman in her house and attempted to snatch her chain in Thadagam on the city outskirts, police said.
When Vinod knocked the door of the house the woman Anitha opened the door. As she came out, Vinod pushed her inside and attempted to snatch the chain.
However, the neighbours rushed to the house and broke the front door, following the alarm raised by Anitha and caught the youth and beaten him.
He was arrested and police admitted him in a private hospital, to treat his bleeding injuries.
