Public vehicles to display drivers' ID details

All public service vehicles in the city such as auto-rickshaws, taxis and buses will have to display various details like drivers' name and address and license number inside the vehicles.

Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said a decision to this effect was taken as part of government's efforts to ensure a better security environment in public transport in the city.

A card carrying various details of the driver including his name, address, license number and badge number will have to be displayed inside all public service vehicles. Telephone number of bus owner, transport department helpline number and police helpline number will also have to be displayed, said Goswami.
 

He said the vehicle owners can receive the authorisation card featuring the details required to be displyed from the Zonal Offices of the Transport Department.

"They can also get the authorisation card through the website of transport department by furnishing various required details," said an official.
