A senior woman office-bearer of human rights body, People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) was arrested here today for allegedly posting "objectionable" comments on her Facebook account against Tamil Nadu Governor and a local Congress MLA, police said.

Jaya Vindhayala, the PUCL general secretary of Andhra Pradesh, was apprehended from Padmarao Nagar under section 66A of the Information Technology (IT) Act for allegedly posting the "objectionable" Facebook post against the Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Congress MLA Krishna Mohan from Chirala in Prakasam district. She will be produced before Prakasam district magistrate at his residence, Prakasam SP K Raghuram Reddy told PTI.

"A case was booked on April 18 following complaint by the Chirala MLA and during the course of investigation it was found that Vindhayala (had) posted the "objectionable" comments", Reddy said.

A request will also be forwarded to Facebook authorities seeking deletion of the content, he added.

Vindhayala had allegedly distributed pamphlets making objectionable allegations against Rosaiah and Krishna Mohan earlier in Chirala town in Prakasam district before posting the comments online, police said.
