Puducherry State Commission for Backward Classes reconstituted

The Puducherry Administration has issued an order reconstituting the State level Commission for the Backward Classes.

The Commission, headed by retired Judge K.Mohanram, will have 15 non-official members who include a former legislator from Mahe P.K.Sathyanandan and a local journalist P N S Pandian. These members would assist the chairman.

A communication from the Commission said today it had been set up as per the directions of the Supreme Court and also as per the decision of the Central government to entertain, examine and recommend upon requests for inclusion and complaints of over inclusion and under inclusion of other backward classes.
 

The Commission would also look into the matter for reservation covering religious and linguistic minorities and would submit a report as early as possible, the communication said.
