The Union Territory of Puducherry going to Lok Sabha poll on April 24 to elect its lone representative will have a eleven hour polling, Chief Electoral Officer, T Sreekanth said today.
The polling will start at 7 a.M. That day and conclude at 5 p.M.
Necessary communication in this regard had been received from the Election Commission, he said. The Union Territory had had nine hour polling on earlier occasions between 8 a.M. And 5 p.M., he said.

A total of seven hundred students have been identified for being deployed as student polling officers during the elections and after finalising the list the election authorities would train them on March 25, he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (law and order)Omvir Singh who was also present said that to ensure peaceful, fair and incident free election the police department was holding meetings with their counterparts in neighbouring districts of Tamilnadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in view of the location of the regions of Union Territory in these three different states.
He said around 2700 local police personnel would be deployed for poll duty and aready two companies of the central force had been sanctioned to Puducherry.
