Pune criminal killed in gang rivalry; one held

A 22-year-old man, who claimed himself to be the chief of 'Ravan Sena', was killed by six members of a rival gang at Nigdi in Pune last night, the police said today.

The deceased, identified as Aniket Jadhav, had a criminal past and six cases were pending against him at local police stations, according to police.

The incident occurred at around 11 P.M on Monday when Jadhav was visiting Akurdi Gaonthan when he was attacked by a group with swords and stones, a police official said.

"Police have arrested one Hanumant Shinde (35) in connection with the killing," Nigadi police station inspector Shankar Awatade said, adding they are looking for five others involved in the attack.
